Dalmore Trinitas: The $195,000 Scotch That Only Three People Own

Dalmore Trinitas Review — Dalmore 62 Year Trinitas | Caskworth Premium Whisky

In 2010, The Dalmore released Trinitas — a Scotch whisky so rare that only three bottles were ever produced. Each was sold privately for $195,000. The Trinitas remains a landmark in the brief and extraordinary history of ultra-luxury whisky.

What Is Dalmore Trinitas?

Trinitas is a blend of four exceptionally rare Dalmore single casks — distilled in 1868, 1878, 1926 and 1939 — combined with mature Dalmore aged in vintage port, Madeira and Matusalem sherry casks. The oldest component is over 140 years old; the youngest is over 80. Few whiskies anywhere combine that range of vintage components into a single bottling.

Why Only Three Bottles?

The final quantity was constrained entirely by the available stock of the 1868 component — there simply wasn't enough of that specific cask to stretch further. After careful blending, Master Distiller Richard Paterson determined that exactly three perfect bottles could be produced without compromising the blend's quality, making Trinitas one of the smallest production runs of any commercially released whisky.

Tasting Notes

Dark chocolate, ancient Highland character and port wine dominate the profile, layered over the kind of deep, oxidative complexity only possible from components that have spent well over a century in cask. It's less a single flavor profile than a blend of four distinct eras of Dalmore distilling history in one glass.

Price and Rarity

At $195,000, Dalmore Trinitas sits among the most expensive Scotch whiskies ever offered publicly. With only three bottles ever made, ownership is less a purchasing decision than a genuinely rare historical acquisition — comparable to owning a piece of Dalmore's own distilling archive rather than simply a very old bottle of whisky.

More Accessible Dalmore

For drinkers who want the Dalmore house style — dark chocolate, orange marmalade and coffee — without Trinitas pricing, Dalmore 25 Year ($999.99, 42% ABV) and Dalmore Luminary No.3 1987 ($14,999.99, 46.5% ABV, 36 Year) both deliver the same signature character with genuine exceptional sherry cask influence at a more attainable (if still serious) price point.
