Hennessy XO Price: What Every Hennessy Bottle Costs
The Hennessy XO price at Caskworth is $199.99. That is five times the $39.99 charged for Hennessy V.S and about a fifth of the $999.99 asked for Hennessy Paradis, which makes the X.O the middle rung of a very long ladder. This guide lists what every Hennessy we stock costs, explains what the V.S, V.S.O.P and X.O labels actually promise, shows the cost per pour, and helps you decide which bottle gives the best return for your budget.
Hennessy XO Price at a Glance
The Hennessy X.O costs $199.99 on our shelves, bottled at 40% ABV. That figure is the one most buyers are looking for, and it sits well within the range for a top-tier cognac without reaching into collector territory. Two limited-edition X.O bottles cost slightly more: the Ridley Scott edition is $229.99 and the Marc Newson edition is $249.99. Prices on Hennessy bottles can change, so check the product page before you order, and remember that paying with cryptocurrency takes 10% off at checkout.
The simplest way to read the Hennessy XO price is against its neighbours. It costs about 3.3 times the V.S.O.P Privilege, and about five times the V.S. Moving up, it costs one fifth of Paradis. In practical terms, X.O is where Hennessy moves from an everyday cognac to a bottle you buy for an occasion.
The rest of this guide covers where the price comes from and how to pick the right rung for your budget.

Hennessy Bottles and Prices: The Full Ladder
Here is every core Hennessy we list, in order of price. Use it as a quick reference whenever you want to check the cost for Hennessy at a particular tier.
| Bottle | Style | ABV | Caskworth price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hennessy V.S | V.S | 40% | $39.99 |
| Hennessy Black | V.S | 43% | $44.99 |
| Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilege | V.S.O.P | 40% | $59.99 |
| Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilege Limited Edition | V.S.O.P | 40% | $69.99 |
| Hennessy Pure White | V.S | 40% | $79.99 |
| Hennessy Master Blender’s Selection No. 5 | Premium | 43% | $89.99 |
| Hennessy X.O | X.O | 40% | $199.99 |
| Hennessy X.O Limited Edition by Ridley Scott | X.O limited | 40% | $229.99 |
| Hennessy X.O Limited Edition by Marc Newson | X.O limited | 40% | $249.99 |
| Hennessy Paradis | Ultra premium | 40% | $999.99 |
| Hennessy Paradis Imperial | Ultra premium | 40% | $3,499.99 |
| Hennessy Richard Hennessy | Ultra premium | 40% | $4,999.99 |
The pattern is easy to see. Up to about $90 you are buying everyday and mixing cognac. Around $200 is the X.O tier, and above $1,000 the bottles are bought as collector or gift pieces. If your budget is $50 to $100, the useful comparison is between V.S.O.P and Pure White. If it is $200, the question is whether to take the standard X.O or one of its limited editions. Hennessy VSOP Price and What V.S, V.S.O.P and X.O Mean
The Hennessy VSOP price of $59.99 for the Privilege bottle is the best entry to see how the labels differ. Under the rules of the Cognac trade body, the BNIC, the letters tell you the age of the youngest eau-de-vie in the blend: V.S must be at least 2 years old, V.S.O.P at least 4 years old, and X.O at least 10 years old. The BNIC sets out these minimums on its protected origin page.
| Label | Minimum age of youngest eau-de-vie | Hennessy example | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| V.S | 2 years | Hennessy V.S | $39.99 |
| V.S.O.P | 4 years | Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilege | $59.99 |
| X.O | 10 years | Hennessy X.O | $199.99 |
Remember that these are minimums. A house usually blends many ages, and the youngest component sets the label. Our listings describe the Hennessy V.S as a blend of more than 40 eaux-de-vie and the V.S.O.P Privilege as the first V.S.O.P created for the British Royal Court, aged four to eight years. For a longer comparison of the three grades, see our guide to V.S vs V.S.O.P vs X.O cognac.

What the Extra Money Buys: Hennessy X.O Explained
Is the X.O worth $140 more than the V.S.O.P? According to Hennessy’s own account, Maurice Hennessy created the X.O in 1870 for his circle of friends, and it was one of the first cognacs classified as X.O, or “extra old”, because of its extended ageing. The house describes the eaux-de-vie as aged in young barrels, marked by power and energy as well as the capacity to reach great roundness through time. Its tasting description starts with candied fruit on the palate. You can read the details on the official Hennessy X.O page.
In practice, the extra money buys three things:
- Age. By the BNIC rules, every eau-de-vie in an X.O is at least ten years old, against four for a V.S.O.P.
- Depth. The house emphasises a more powerful, rounder style than its younger cognacs.
- Heritage. The first Hennessy X.O decanter was designed in 1947 by Gérald de Geoffre, and the shape is still recognised today.
The house also suggests serving the X.O over ice, describing three styles: on three rocks, on a rock and over ice. If you prefer to see the story told by the house, the LVMH film The Story Behind ME: the savoir-faire behind Hennessy X.O runs just over four minutes.
Hennessy Price vs Other Cognac Houses
Hennessy is not the only way to buy cognac at these tiers, and a fair price check looks at the competition. Using our current list prices, here is how the same grades compare across houses we stock:
| Grade | Hennessy | Other houses we stock |
|---|---|---|
| V.S | $39.99 | Courvoisier V.S $34.99, Bisquit & Dubouché V.S $34.99 |
| V.S.O.P | $59.99 | Courvoisier V.S.O.P $49.99, Rémy Martin V.S.O.P $54.99, D’Ussé V.S.O.P $54.99 |
| X.O | $199.99 | Bisquit & Dubouché X.O $149.99, Delamain Pale & Dry X.O $149.99, Louis Royer X.O $149.99 |
Hennessy generally sits a little above the others at each grade, and the gap is widest at X.O, where several houses are $50 lower. A price gap is not a quality verdict, because style, blend and packaging differ. What it does mean is that the Hennessy XO price includes the pull of the best-known name in cognac. If your main goal is the Hennessy style, pay for it. If your main goal is a good ten-year-minimum X.O, compare tasting notes across houses first.
The same logic applies at the lower grades. At V.S.O.P the difference is only a few dollars, so brand preference is a fair way to choose. At V.S the choice often comes down to what you are mixing into.
Cost for Hennessy Per Pour
A helpful way to compare is by the cost of a single serving. A standard 750 ml bottle holds about 25 one-ounce pours, and the per-ounce numbers at our list prices are:
- Hennessy V.S: about $1.60 per ounce.
- Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilege: about $2.40 per ounce.
- Hennessy X.O: about $8.00 per ounce.
- Hennessy Paradis: about $40 per ounce.
These are arithmetic figures from our own prices, not bar quotes. The takeaway is that the X.O costs about three times as much per pour as the V.S.O.P but still only a few dollars more per drink, which is why many buyers choose it for sipping neat or over ice. The xo hennessy cost per serving is small compared with the bottle price, and much lower than what a bar would charge. Check the bottle size on the listing before you rely on the pour count.
Limited Editions and Luxury Hennessy
Above the standard X.O, the price ladder steps up sharply. Our listing describes Hennessy Paradis as a blend of over 100 rare eaux-de-vie aged up to 130 years, and it sells for $999.99. The Paradis Imperial is $3,499.99, the Richard Hennessy is $4,999.99 and the Hennessy Ellipse is $12,999.99. A one-of-100 Baccarat crystal Ellipse is listed at $195,000.
The two limited X.O bottles, from Ridley Scott and Marc Newson, cost $30 and $50 more than the standard X.O at the same 40% ABV. The extra money reflects the limited-edition design, so compare each listing to see exactly what differs before you pay it. If you are buying for yourself, the standard bottle is the better value. If you are buying a gift, a limited edition makes the presentation more memorable.
If your budget stretches toward $1,000, compare Hennessy Paradis with other top cognacs in our premium cognac collection before you decide.
Which Hennessy Should You Buy?
Use this quick guide to choose:
- For cocktails and mixing: Hennessy V.S at $39.99 or Hennessy Black at $44.99.
- For an easy everyday sipper: the V.S.O.P Privilege at $59.99.
- For a lighter, floral style: Pure White. Hennessy says it created it in 1998 as a return to its roots, using very pale eaux-de-vie, and that the blend is dominated by Fins Bois with minimal wood influence so the floral and fruity notes come through. The house recommends serving it over ice with fresh fruit juice or nectar.
- For a gift or milestone: the X.O at $199.99.
- For a collector piece: Paradis and above.

How to Buy Hennessy Safely Online
Hennessy is a very well-known cognac name, so it pays to buy carefully. Before you order:
- Match the exact name and ABV. V.S, V.S.O.P, Pure White and Black are different bottles, and Black is 43% against 40% for the V.S.
- Check the delivery terms. Caskworth offers same-day delivery to 33 U.S. states and 7 Canadian provinces for in-stock bottles ordered by 2PM. The minimum order is $249.99, delivery fees depend on your location, and a 21+ age check applies at delivery.
- Read the returns policy. Returns must be sent back by mail within 7 days so the bottle’s authenticity can be checked.
- Combine orders if you can. With a $249.99 minimum, a Hennessy X.O plus a V.S.O.P easily clears it.
- Keep your receipt and box. They help if you resell or insure a higher-value bottle.
Used this way, the figures in this guide let you choose by value. Pick the tier that fits how you will drink, and the Hennessy price you pay will match what you get.
