Yamazaki 12 Year: Japan's Finest Single Malt Whisky Reviewed
Yamazaki 12 Year is Japan's first and most celebrated single malt whisky.
The Distillery
The Yamazaki Distillery was founded in 1923 south of Kyoto — Japan's first whisky distillery, operated by Suntory. It produces some of the world's most sought-after single malts.
What Makes It Special?
Matured in three cask types — American white oak, Spanish Oloroso sherry and Japanese Mizunara oak. The Mizunara influence creates incense-like sandalwood and coconut notes found in no other whisky.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Peach, pineapple and grapefruit. Palate: Clove, cinnamon, plum and honey. Finish: Long and complex with delicate spice and a whisper of Mizunara coconut.
Price and Where to Buy
